After exploring a professional career in commercial interior design and architectural project management in Montreal and Ottawa for over 15 years, as well as teaching residential and commercial interior design, Natalie moved to Vancouver to pursue her studies in Textile Arts at Capilano University, where she graduated with the BC Craft Association Award of Excellence.

A core teacher for the past 20 years at Vancouver’s Maiwa School of Textiles, and founder of a small clothing for kids design company La Cochenille, in 2022 she joined Kwantlen University’s Faculty of Fashion and Technology, where she teaches Surface Design. In 2023, she participated as a guest faculty in KPU’s Amazon Field School, conducting research on natural native pigments used traditionally for indigenous ceremonial bark cloth. Natalie’s commitment to sustainable design practices is enriched by her ongoing research on traditional craft as creative acts in combination with contemporary design. Her interests include travelling and documenting traditional textile designs, photography and silkscreen printing and she is passionate about igniting inspiration as an educator.
