Stuart Rothnie received his master’s degree in architecture (M.Arch ) from Manchester University in the UK. He is Registered Architect in the UK, BC, Saskatchewan and Ontario, and a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. As design partner at hcma architecture + design, he is responsible for the overall design of our post-secondary and first response facilities, guiding design concepts and direction. Stuart ensures that the design team remains focused on the overall architectural vision whilst still meeting critical project demands. His commitment to design excellence is well recognized by the body of work he has contributed to over the last three decades.

Stuart has chaired several Advisory Design Panels in the Lower Mainland and is currently the Chair of the District of North Vancouver Advisory Design Panel and sits on the Board of the Architectural Institute of BC as Immediate Past Chair. He is a regular critic and design reviewer at the KPU Design School and has been sought for his views on design process and delivery. He is widely recognized as an expert facilitator of stakeholder engagement and design accelerators, such as design sprints and Find weeks.
