Mayyadah Al-Ani holds a PhD in Computer Science specializing in Artificial Intelligence. She has over 25 years’ experience teaching at universities and colleges in Canada and worldwide and is dedicated to teaching, curriculum development, and improving student achievement across computing and information technology. She has been a KPU faculty member since 2019.

Alongside her academic work, Al-Ani helps friends set up websites for their companies. She uses her industry experience to connect classroom lessons to real-world situations, so students develop skills they can use in the workplace today.

Al-Ani is conducting research in Artificial Intelligence, image processing, and e-learning and has authored over 25 research papers. Her contributions include developing intelligent systems and technology-based learning tools, demonstrating her dedication to using technology to improve education and solve problems.

Her teaching philosophy centers on passing the torch of knowledge from one generation to the next. This is a main pillar of society’s rise and a key step toward an ideal future where students perform at their best and full capacity. She focuses on transmitting knowledge by connecting theory with practice and engaging students in an interactive and collaborative environment.

Apart from her professional work, Al-Ani engages in handcrafting and interior decorating, showcasing her creativity, careful attention to detail, and appreciation for artistic expression.
