Type Designer, Alanna Munro Type Foundry

Alanna Munro is an independent type designer, lettering artist, and self-proclaimed letter nerd. After completing a degree in communication design from Emily Carr in 2013 and spending a few years as an interaction designer, she started specializing in typographic projects and opened her own type foundry in 2020. She designs & refines wordmarks, creates custom & retail fonts, and draws lettering for products and editorial use. Alanna’s letterforms have been described as having a balance of warm curves and technical precision and she brings those qualities into everything she does. Her passion for providing accessible well-made fonts and sharing typographic knowledge with everyone can be seen in her involvement as a co-organizer of Type Brigade, Vancouver’s typography speaker series, and as a educator at BCIT.
