Dr. Joanna Zander holds a Ph.D. in Kinesiology (SFU) with a focus on extreme environment physiology and ergonomics. This unique blend of expertise has been a cornerstone in her career, bridging the gap between understanding the human and innovative user experience (UX) design. Joanna has extensive experience in the industry with pivotal roles as a UX Designer, Researcher, and Director of UX at companies such as Nokia, Samsung, Amazon, and Lululemon. These positions have allowed Joanna to apply user-centred design strategies across industries, crafting products that are both useful and usable. 

Beyond industry contributions, Joanna is also a dedicated educator, sharing knowledge and insights with the next generation of designers. She has taught UX and Human-Centered Design at several institutions, including Simon Fraser University (SFU), the University of British Columbia (UBC), Emily Carr University of Art + Design (ECUAD), and has been teaching at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) since 2022. Her interdisciplinary approach, combining robust research methodologies with practical industry applications, underscores a commitment to advancing the field of human-centred design.
