Associate VP, Design & Technical Development, Canadian Tire

Laura Fine is the Associate VP, Design & Technical Development for Consumer Brands at Canadian Tire. In her role, she oversees soft goods and footwear across multiple brand portfolios. Her vision to build a hub for creativity and innovation, including the incorporation of 3D design, has transformed Consumer Brands into a design centre of excellence. Laura is committed to building products that meet the evolving needs of Canadian consumers.

Laura started her career in a Toronto menswear factory making patterns and markers while also taking time to connect with customers in the store. Ultimately, her fascination with technical outerwear led her to transition to Karbon, a Canadian skiwear brand. There, she mastered the complexity of building functional outerwear, outfitting Olympic teams and local athletes.

Later she joined Canada Goose, where she launched the special projects department focusing on tactical partnerships and expeditions for Goose People. In her role, she created the model for custom fittings to make outerwear for athletes with unique fit challenges. Additionally, she built the business strategy supporting collaborations and partnerships appearing in global fashion weeks and specialty retail. These high-profile projects had Laura working alongside iconic designers and brands including Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs, Junya Watanabe, Juun.J, Want Les Essentiels, Vetements, Levi’s, and Opening Ceremony. Her innovative work earned her the very first Icon Award from Canada Goose, acknowledging her entrepreneurial spirit leading her transition into merchandising, overseeing the women’s assortment and collaborations for Canada Goose.

Laura graduated from TMU with a Bachelor of Design and studied Fashion Merchandising at The New School, blending her design and merchandising career. She has been evolving her career for 17 years with Canadian companies that have both global and local impact.
