Dr. Ghassemi works across artificial intelligence, big data analytics, the Internet of Things, and cybersecurity, with a strong focus on how these technologies influence modern front-end design and development. Until September 2025, he was faculty in the Computer Science and Information Technology department at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. He is currently collaborating with the Wilson School of Design to integrate AI-driven tools and secure, data-aware thinking into creative digital workflows. His work supports designers in building responsive, accessible, and secure user experiences using contemporary web technologies and generative AI.
He holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Victoria and completed NSERC-funded postdoctoral research at Stanford University and UBC. As a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and Senior Member of IEEE, Dr. Ghassemi has authored more than 40 publications and has directed research and industry collaborative projects focused on AI-enabled intelligent systems, secure computing, and large-scale data innovation.
