Klara Joubert, Research Assistant
Hi there! I’m Klara Joubert. Research nerd, proud South African, and tea enthusiast. I’m currently wrapping up my fourth-year studying Product Design (wow, that feels strange to say!) and going on three years of being a Research Assistant at the WSD. I’m super passionate about social innovation, and if you give me half a chance, I’ll talk your ear off about systems design. I also love a good chat, so say hi if you see me around campus!

Clara Devina, Research Assistant
Hello! My name is Clara, and I am in my fourth-year of Fashion Design and Technology. I am currently working as a Research Assistant for Man-Made Cellulose Fabric project lead by Stephanie. I am interested in working for this project as this has a bio-based approach, and I got to work with new fiber that might be a new and sustainable alternative for the textile industry. Moreover, I got to use and learn some of the testing machines which I find very interesting.

My name is Andrea, and I am a fourth-year Interior Design student. As I finish up my last semester, I am primarily focusing on designing an educational space for children with ASD in grades 4 to 7. My research interests are centered on exploring how we can implement and create an ecosystem of healthy materials for daily interaction—ranging from building materials to garments. In my free time, you can find me nuzzled into a non-fiction book about environmental phenomena like fungi and mycelium, or staying active through indoor bouldering and learning how to skateboard.

With a strong passion for womenswear, I am dedicated to challenging the fashion industry’s beauty standards and making it a more inclusive space for women.
Cinu George, Research Assistant
My name is Cinu, and I am in the Technical Apparel program. I was inspired to pursue Technical Apparel Design by a passion for enhancing comfort and inclusivity in clothing, particularly for individuals with specialized needs, such as adaptive clothing for differentially abled individuals and protective wear for beginner athletes. I aim to contribute by developing solutions that prioritize functionality without compromising style, focusing on adaptive fit, comfort, and sustainable materials. My goal is to bridge the gap between everyday needs and technical innovation, creating apparel that supports diverse lifestyles and fosters confidence in every wearer.
