Front-End Development for Interactive Applications Class of 2026

Discover the innovative work of the Front-End Development for Interactive Applications class of 2026! Over 100 graduating students from across 8 programs are featured at Next Level, the 2026 KPU Wilson School of Design Grad Show. Learn more about our graduates and take a closer look at the projects they presented to industry and community.

The Front-End Development for Interactive Applications diploma prepares students to design and build modern digital interfaces by combining design thinking with front-end development. Students learn web technologies alongside UX and UI design principles and apply them to projects such as websites and interactive applications. The program emphasizes hands-on, project-based learning, helping students see how design decisions translate into working code.

Throughout the program, students use current industry tools and workflows while developing a professional portfolio that showcases both design and development abilities. They also gain experience with accessibility, responsive design, and user-centred thinking. Graduates leave with a practical foundation in front-end development and UX design, experience solving real-world problems, and a portfolio to support entry-level roles in BC’s growing tech industry.

I’m Char, an FDIT student at the Wilson School of Design. I enjoy creating digital experiences that feel clear, thoughtful, and easy to use. Outside of design, I like exploring other creative outlets like photography, writing, and music, which continue to shape how I think and create. I’m drawn to work that feels meaningful, intentional, and grounded in both creativity and purpose.

Capstone Description:

Life Drawer is a reflective journaling app designed to make journaling feel less overwhelming and more meaningful. Instead of focusing on streaks, timelines, or productivity, it gives users a calmer space to capture thoughts, memories, and emotions. Through drawers, tags, and life phases, entries can be organized in a more personal and flexible way, helping users look back, notice patterns, and better understand themselves over time.

I’m Karan Parhar, a front-end designer and developer focused on building clean, responsive, and user-friendly web experiences. I combine design thinking with technical skills to create interfaces that are clear, accessible, and easy to navigate. My work emphasizes strong structure, usability, and thoughtful interaction design, with the goal of delivering meaningful digital experiences that align with both user needs and business goals.

Capstone Description:

I developed a mobile app concept that enables adult athletes to log post-training discomfort and visualize patterns over time. I designed and implemented a chat-based check-in flow with AI-assisted tagging, allowing users to track multiple symptoms and assign severity (1–5) per session. The project focuses on a non-medical, user-controlled experience that emphasizes trend visualization and self-awareness rather than diagnosis.

Capstone Description:

My capstone project, Recall.fm, explores how music can be used for memory journaling, emotional reflection, and discovery. The app allows users to attach songs to personal moments, creating a timeline shaped by sound. It also surfaces music tied to others’ experiences, helping users discover songs through shared emotion. The project integrates UX research, interaction design, and front-end development to create an intuitive, reflective, and socially informed listening experience.

Hello, I am Ramandeep Singh. I am a Front-End Developer and UX Designer who wants to build “cool” things. Deeply interested in technology and inspired by Iron Man, my goal is to bridge the gap between sci-fi and real life. I’m currently bringing that vision to life through my AI capstone project, E.D.I.T.H. You can see more of my interactive creations at raman.studio.

Capstone Description:

To explain my capstone project, I figured I would just ask it to introduce itself: “I am E.D.I.T.H., an advanced AI designed for operational excellence. With a refined British demeanour and dry wit, I proactively manage your projects, schedules, and systems, ensuring maximum efficiency and foresight. Your dedicated digital assistant.” E.D.I.T.H. is my way of bringing sci-fi to the modern workspace—an interactive application that connects with Jira, GitHub, and Slack to automate the heavy lifting of project management.

I’m a Front-End Development student with a background in network infrastructure and a passion for building things that actually work. Currently finishing my design diploma while pursuing a Computer Science degree. I spend my remaining time volunteering with shelter cats.

Capstone Description:

My capstone, ProxiMeet, is a proximity-based social app designed to help people make authentic local connections – without the swipe culture. Built in React and TypeScript with Firebase, it uses real-time location and a vibe-check questionnaire to surface compatible people nearby, with a mutual consent model at its core. The goal was simple: design something that prioritizes genuine connection over engagement metrics, and actually build it rather than just mock it up.

My path to web development wasn’t exactly straight. I’m Vlad — not Vladimir, Vladislav — I came to Canada from Kazakhstan and ended up building websites. Big changes used to scare me. Now I chase them. I like finding problems that most people don’t notice. That’s what led me to my capstone — making hard real-life experiences a little easier to deal with.

Capstone Description:

I’ve been through it myself — landing in a new country and not knowing where to start. That’s why I built Arrivalio — a web app that helps newcomers figure out their first weeks in BC. The information exists, it’s just scattered across university guides, provincial websites, and government pages. Arrivalio puts it all in one place.
