Graphic design students at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) are using their skills to fundraise for a good cause this holiday season.

Holiday cards designed by Wilson School of Design students Sarah Nelson and Monica Snow have been selected for the BC Children’s Hospital’s annual Holiday Card Program fundraiser. The cards are available for purchase at select London Drugs locations this holiday season, with all proceeds going towards supporting pediatric care programs and services at the BC Children’s Hospital.

“I had a lot of health issues growing up, and I was at the BC Children’s Hospital often, so it does feel like I’m giving back to a place that helped me a lot as a kid,” says Nelson, a third year Graphic Design for Marketing student at KPU.

Nelson’s design, Found Family, depicts a scene of different kinds of animals gathering to celebrate the holidays, representing how family can be chosen. Snow, who’s in her fourth year at KPU, illustrated Vancouver during the holidays for her design, Christmas in the City.

It was really fun designing this card. I’ve always wanted to create artwork with a good purpose, so to able to design something for the BC Children’s Hospital feels really special,
