Prabhdeep
Kaur
As an Indian immigrant, Prabhdeep finds her design sensibility being constantly influenced by Indian textiles and clothing history. She aims to design intentional, functional and user-centered product that simultaneously captures culture and history. She enjoys concept, and product development, trend analysis and pattern drafting using manual and digital programs. Having learned about fashion through her maternal Aunt, she feels inspired by the strong women in her community.
Thaght in Punjabi signifies a feeling of pride while also showing humility and gratitude. This very Punjabi trait captures the essence of the brand and target customer. Thaght creates contemporary design solutions for women who want to honour and celebrate Indian culture and tradition in western work places. The brand revisits female leaders in Indian history and commemorates them by learning their stories and emulating their values in each collection. The pieces are feminine, high quality, functional and most importantly remind the customer of India through vibrant warm colours, embroidered prints reminiscent of marble reliefs, rich traditional fabrics and details inspired by Mughal architecture. Each piece is carefully designed keeping the customer in the forefront with details like comfortable strap holders, easy to access side closures and spacious pockets for all their storage needs. Products are adaptable in size to allow the customer a longer wear.
